Junior Property Accountant
Position Overview: We are seeking a Junior Property Accountant with 3-5 years of experience in property accounting, with a focus on commercial, retail real estate, and hospitality sectors. This role will involve preparing financial statements, cash flow statements, and managing accounts payable/receivable functions. The Junior Property Accountant will report to the Controller and will play a key role in supporting the financial operations and reporting for our real estate portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting: Prepare and review accurate monthly financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements for real estate portfolios. Ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies.
Cash Flow Management: Prepare cash flow statements, ensuring proper tracking of income and expenditures for various properties. Collaborate with property management teams to optimize financial performance.
Accounts Payable/Receivable: Oversee AP/AR functions, ensuring timely payment processing and accurate recording of transactions. Assist with vendor payments and tenant billing.
Reconciliation and Analysis: Reconcile bank accounts, property-level financials, and tenant ledgers on a regular basis. Provide variance analysis and identify areas for financial improvement.
Audit and Compliance: Assist with internal and external audits to ensure adherence to financial controls and compliance with regulatory requirements.
System Management: Utilize MRI or similar property management software to maintain accurate property accounting records. Leverage advanced Excel skills for financial analysis and reporting.
Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including property managers and financial controllers, to ensure financial accuracy and resolve accounting discrepancies.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance from a reputable institution.
6-8 years of experience in property accounting, particularly in commercial, retail, and hospitality real estate sectors.
Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and cash flow management.
2 Years of experience with MRI accounting software
Solid understanding of AP/AR processes and how to streamline them.
Exceptional analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
