Reports to: VP, Sales

Type: Full-Time (Direct Hire)

Location: Des Plaines, IL (office location). Role will involve a mix of in-office and in-the-field sales work each week.

Compensation: $100,000-$120,000 (base salary range) + 20% Bonus

Our leading client in the Building Materials Distribution space is currently seeking an experienced Sales Manager to build and grow their Sales team towards achieving exceptional revenue growth. Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve company objectives for the Chicagoland market.

  • Manage a sales team and provide leadership, training, and coaching to foster a high-performance sales culture.

  • Establish sales objectives by forecasting and developing annual sales quotas for regions and territories.

  • Monitor and analyze sales team performance metrics and provide timely feedback and support.

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key customers and strategic partners.

  • Oversee the sales budget and ensure resources are allocated optimally for maximum return on investment.

  • Conduct market research to identify emerging trends, market opportunities, and potential threats.

  • Collaborate with the leadership and account management teams to ensure brand consistency and increase sales through effective marketing strategies and product offerings.

  • Negotiate contracts and close agreements to maximize profits while maintaining customer satisfaction.

  • Continuously assess current business distribution channels, develop and evaluate their performance, and manage conflict ensuring alignment with territory plans.

  • Maintain extensive knowledge of current market conditions and competitor activity to adapt sales strategies accordingly.

  • Attend industry events, conferences, and seminars to network and get insights into the latest sales trends and technologies.

  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the company's products or services.

  • Prepare and present sales reports and realistic forecasts to the management team.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in sales management with a track record of successfully managing, building and coaching sales teams.

  • 5+ years of outside sales experience with documented consistent success and building sales teams in new markets.

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.

  • Strong understanding of customer and market dynamics and requirements, with excellent mentoring, coaching, and people management skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to meet and exceed sales targets and revenue goals, with proficiency in CRM software (NetSuite a plus) and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational and planning abilities, and exceptional negotiation and closing skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments, with analytical skills to forecast and identify trends and challenges, and familiarity with data analysis and reporting.

  • Willingness to travel as required, with experience in budget management and cost analysis.

  • Commitment to continuous education through workshops, seminars, and conferences, with the ability to lead and inspire a team.

  • High level of integrity and professionalism, with the ability to handle pressure and meet deadlines, and flexibility to adapt to changing demands and business environments.

  • Initiative, drive, patience, and persistence (GRIT), with an entrepreneurial mindset.
