Production Engineer Job Description
The Production Engineer supports the Operations Manager and shop floor team in achieving production targets regarding quality, quantity, and delivery, adhering to firm standards. They design and implement systems and equipment procedures in manufacturing facilities, ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and prevention rules.
Significant Activities
Team Coordination: Assist the Operations Manager in coordinating the production team to meet objectives related to quantity, quality, cost, and time.
Technical Support: Provide technical support to operators and facilitate team routines on the shop floor.
Performance Monitoring: Track production and team performance, addressing difficulties with management.
Planning and Status: Aid in defining planning and production status with the Operations Manager.
Improvement Proposals: Regularly propose and formalize improvements in manufacturing performance (productivity, scrap, OTIF).
Operating Procedures: Ensure products are manufactured according to defined procedures.
Process Parameters: Define and follow up on process parameters for new products/materials homologation.
Employee Training: Train employees at their workstations.
Flow and Performance Management: Coordinate the resolution of quality issues and problems.
Safety Standards: Develop HSE safety standards, including risk assessment and corrective actions.
Quality Management: Manage external claims resolution (8D approach) and internal non-conformity.
Testing and Laboratory: Act as a reference for final testing and laboratory activities.
Administrative Management: Handle administrative tasks (SAP management, work preparation, RM reception, FG shipment).
Maintenance Follow-Up: Ensure first-level maintenance is performed by the team and prioritize interventions.
Reporting Issues: Alert and report malfunctions needing managerial intervention.
Purchasing and Suppliers: Handle related tasks.
Specific Professional Knowledge
Training:
Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering or equivalent technical background or experience.
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years or equivalent experience.
Technical Skills:
Deep knowledge of sector-specific processes, products, and machines.
General knowledge of production planning, monitoring, standards, and continuous improvement tools.
Proficiency in digital tools (SAP, ERP, MS Office).
