Job Title: Document Reviewer

Location: Onsite in NYC

Hourly Rate: $34/hr

Job Summary:

The Document Reviewer is responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and categorizing documents in various formats to support legal or compliance initiatives. The role involves identifying relevant information, applying legal and regulatory guidelines, and ensuring accuracy and confidentiality. Document Reviewers work closely with attorneys, compliance teams, and case managers to facilitate case preparation, legal research, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and analyze documents for relevance, privilege, and confidentiality.

  • Organize and categorize documents based on specific criteria or legal standards.

  • Identify and flag critical information, including key issues and inconsistencies.

  • Use eDiscovery tools and document review platforms (e.g., Relativity, Everlaw, or Concordance) to manage large volumes of documents.

  • Conduct keyword searches and use filtering techniques to identify important content.

  • Prepare reports and summaries of findings, presenting key issues and relevant information to attorneys or case managers.

  • Ensure the accuracy, consistency, and completeness of reviewed documents.

  • Collaborate with legal teams to prioritize and batch documents for review.

  • Maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information in accordance with legal and organizational standards.

  • Participate in quality control (QC) processes to ensure document accuracy and compliance with legal or regulatory requirements.

  • Adhere to project timelines and ensure documents are reviewed in a timely and efficient manner.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree required, Juris Doctor (JD) or paralegal certificate preferred.

  • Experience: Experience in document review, litigation support, or legal research. Familiarity with eDiscovery and document review software.

Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.

  • Familiarity with legal terminology and concepts.

  • Proficiency in document review platforms (e.g., Relativity, Everlaw).

  • Ability to handle large volumes of documents and manage competing priorities.

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently under minimal supervision.

Preferred Skills:

  • Previous experience with complex litigation or regulatory investigations.

  • Understanding of attorney-client privilege and confidentiality rules.

  • Familiarity with various industries (e.g., financial services, healthcare) and their regulatory frameworks.

Work Environment:

  • May work on-site at law firms, corporate legal departments, or remotely, depending on the project.

  • Typically operates in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment.
