Overview of Role:

Wholesale fruit and vegetable company located in the New York City Terminal Mkt (South Bronx). Looking for someone capable of handling a multi-faceted position within a small office, that will report and work under the Controller.

  • Willing to train and take on workers that are light in experience.

  • Probably best if they live nearby as the commute can be treacherous.

Job Functions will be…

  • Payroll

  • Employee Record Keeping for approximately 50-60 employees, this includes:

Tracking hours

Absences

Lateness

General disciplinary write ups

Managing functions of the union contract and how it relates to their jobs, etc…

Upkeep of employee personal

Managing new hires (not interviewing though, only getting them set up once hired)

  • Upkeep of already existing company handbooks as it relates to HR requirements

  • General Office Administration

Upkeep of office supplies

Upkeep of other company supplies (warehouse / sales related)

Other misc. office functions

  • Assistant to the controller

Helping with any tasks she lays out to assist with company financial matters, etc…

  • Willing to pitch in other areas when office staff is out (A/R - A/P, etc…)

  • Will be trained for everything, but some HR / payroll experience or training would be helpful

Position includes…

  • Weekly salary for work in office M-F from 8-330p (with lunch break)

  • They will be joining the Local 153 Union, there are dues for this union

  • Full Family healthcare available paid by the company, deduction per week is minimal

  • Monthly Pension contributions paid for by the company. This money is realized when vested after a certain number of years & retired from the company.

  • When you add back the benefits, the total package can exceed 100K (depending on the base salary).
