Staff Accountant


Job Responsibilities

  • Enhance Technical Proficiency: Analyze and account for basic and complex transactions, such as lease amendments, financings, acquisitions, and dispositions in accordance with US GAAP.

  • ERM System Exposure: Record recurring monthly and quarterly journal entries for various processes and data points for Asset Management for reporting purposes.

  • Public Reporting Exposure: Coordinate with the financial reporting group during the quarter and year-end consolidation process by preparing and proofing disclosures in 10-Qs and 10-Ks to meet SEC filing deadlines.

  • Multi-task: Operate in a dynamic environment and prepare ad hoc account analyses and projects for various members of the closing group, many of whom come from a public accounting background.

  • Investor Relations: Assist in the preparation of data for the investor relations group and gain an understanding of the financials from their perspective.

  • International Portfolio Exposure: Handle foreign exchange impacts and frequently communicate with the international accounting team.

  • External Audit Assistance: Prepare supporting schedules for external auditors and respond to audit inquiries.

  • Growth Opportunity: Expand skillset as the role develops.

Requirements

  • Education: BS/BA in Accounting with the intention to become a CPA.

  • Attention to Detail: Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Skills: Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Motivation: Highly motivated and goal-oriented.

  • Teamwork: Ability to work well in a team setting.

  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient computer skills with advanced Microsoft Excel.

Additional Information

  • Public Accounting Experience: Not required but a definite plus.

  • SEC Experience: Not required but a definite plus.

  • CPA Status: Candidates should have the intention of becoming a CPA but do not need to have their CPA or any parts passed yet.

  • Experience: 1-3 years of experience is ideal.

Hybrid Work Schedule

  • Office Presence: Employees are expected to be in the office three days a week, typically Monday through Wednesday, but are welcome to be in the office every day.

  • Busy Season Flexibility: During busy seasons (April, July, October, January, early February), there is greater flexibility regarding the expectation that employees come in on Monday and Wednesday.

  • Standard Hours: 8 months/year, standard 8-hour day, allowing for some flexibility.

  • Busy Season Hours: 4 months/year, generally averaging 12-hour days Monday through Thursday, possibly including 2 weekend days. Hours can vary based on transaction volume. Over time, this workload can reduce as resources continue to build.
